# Set Start Time for Chart Bars

You may want to set a start time for building chart bars, for example with a bar size of 1-hour MotiveWave by default will build the bar from 09:00 - 09:59, 10:00 - 10:59, and so on. This can be changed to line up with a specific time such as the US equity market open so your bars are built from 09:30 - 10:29 and so on. 

This can be configured per instrument in the edit instrument dialog under the Intraday Bars tab. It can also be found as a global setting in ***Configure > Preferences/Settings > Historical Data > General***, under the ***Intraday Bar Build Method*** section.
